You’re Not Just Sensitive, You’re Highly Attuned
Understanding Nervous System Health for Empaths, Intuitives, and Deep Feelers
Have You Ever Been Told…
“You’re too sensitive.”
“Stop taking everything so personally.”
“You just need to toughen up.”
“It’s not that big of a deal.”
If you’ve heard things like this, maybe your whole life chances are:
You’ve internalized the belief that something’s “wrong” with how you respond to the world.
But here’s the truth:
You’re not weak. You’re not dramatic. You’re not broken.
You’re likely highly attuned, and your nervous system is wired to feel, notice, and respond deeply.
This is not a flaw.
It’s a trait.
One that requires a different kind of support, especially when it comes to your health.
What Does It Mean to Be Highly Attuned?
When I say “highly attuned,” I’m talking about people who experience the world, physically, emotionally, energetically, with more intensity, awareness, and responsiveness than the average person.
You may:
Sense people’s moods before they speak
Absorb energy from crowded or emotionally charged spaces
Feel overstimulated by loud noises, bright lights, or multitasking
Have a strong intuition, and often know things before you can explain why
Cry easily, feel deeply, and process emotions in the body (not just the mind)
This level of attunement often overlaps with terms like:
Empath
Highly Sensitive Person (HSP)
Deep Feeler
Somatically Aware
Neuro-emotional Intuitive
But regardless of the label, the experience is real, and it’s rooted in your nervous system.
The Nervous System Behind Sensitivity
Let’s break down the science.
Your nervous system is your body’s communication network. It manages how you perceive your environment, how you respond to stress, and how your body recovers afterward.
In highly sensitive or attuned individuals, research shows increased activation in parts of the brain associated with:
Sensory processing
Empathy and emotional regulation
Threat detection
Mirror neuron activity (emotional resonance)
This means your body:
Picks up on subtle cues others miss
Responds more deeply to sensory and emotional input
Has a harder time filtering or “buffering” overwhelming input
Requires more recovery time to return to a regulated baseline
You're not imagining the overwhelm.
Your body is working harder, all day long just to process what it’s experiencing.

Common Physical & Emotional Symptoms
When your nervous system is always “on”, it can lead to chronic patterns of dysregulation. These might look like:
Fatigue after social interactions
Chronic tension in your neck, jaw, shoulders, or chest
Digestive issues (bloating, IBS, nausea, food sensitivity)
Hormonal imbalances (PMS, perimenopause, adrenal fatigue)
Trouble sleeping, light sleep, or vivid dreams
Emotional flooding, feeling overwhelmed by “small” things
Burnout from trying to meet others’ needs before your own
And maybe worst of all:
Feeling like no one really “gets” what it’s like to be this sensitive in a fast-paced, often overstimulating world.
Why This Shows Up (Especially in Women)
While sensitivity exists in all genders, many women are especially vulnerable to nervous system overload due to:
Social conditioning to be the caretakers, peacemakers, and emotional containers for others
Undervalued emotional labor, both at home and at work
Postpartum depletion and under-supported motherhood
Hormonal cycles that impact stress regulation (especially during perimenopause)
Years of chronic micro-stress, trauma, or people-pleasing patterns (often rooted in freeze or fawn responses)
In short: You’ve been “holding it together” for a long time, often for everyone else.
And your body is finally asking for relief.
Nervous System Care for Highly Attuned Bodies
Here’s what I want you to know:
You don’t need to numb your sensitivity.
You need to regulate around it.
True care for the highly attuned woman includes:
1. Creating Safe, Regulated Environments
Spaces that are quiet, calm, and energetically clean
Practitioners who move at your pace and honor your cues
Appointments where you don’t feel rushed, dismissed, or overstimulated
2. Gentle, Nervous-System-Focused Chiropractic
In my office, I use modern techniques that support regulation, not just alignment.
We work with your nervous system to help:
Release stored tension in the spine, fascia, and muscles
Improve vagus nerve tone (your body’s “calm down” switch)
Shift your system from fight-or-flight into rest-and-repair
Help you process emotional energy that’s been stored physically
We go slow. We listen. We adjust care to your body’s unique response.
3. Somatic Support
In addition to chiropractic, I also offer support through The Pleasureful Method, my signature coaching model that helps women reconnect with:
Body-based wisdom
Emotional processing
Nervous system literacy
Pleasure, rest, and regulation as tools for healing
This work is especially powerful for women who carry the emotional energy of others.
It gives your body a place to exhale.
What Happens When You Feel Regulated?
When your nervous system begins to settle, here’s what many of my clients experience:
Less reactivity to everyday stressors
More emotional steadiness and clarity
Deeper sleep and better digestion
Increased energy, even without changing your routine
More pleasure and embodiment in your daily life
Greater discernment about what’s yours, and what isn’t
This is your body coming home to itself.
Not by numbing your sensitivity, but by honoring it.
Final Thought: You’re Not Too Sensitive, You’re Wired for Wisdom
Your sensitivity is not a flaw.
It’s a sign that you are wired for connection, intuition, and depth.
But you deserve care that meets the depth of what you carry.
Not a quick fix. Not a one-size-fits-all.
If you’re done feeling dismissed…
If you’re tired of feeling like no one sees how much you feel…
If you’re ready to feel at home in your body again…
I’d love to support you.
